INTERVIEW WITH SHIREEN GHEBA

So we had an amazing interview with Shireen gheba who is a well renowned artist, writer, blogger and social activist. And besides all of this she is an amazing mother of three beautiful daughters. And most of you guys might know her as a mother of  famous photographer WALIYA NAJIB

She is just not great at her work only but also manages her home life in a well balanced way

HOW DO YOU MANAGE WORK LIFE AND HOME LIFE PERFECTLTY?

 

 I have set a particular time for everything like when it’s my work time no one disturbs me and i solely focus on work. And similarly we share a family time daily at night on video call and have chit chats.

Moving on, being very close to her youngest daughter we asked her

HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT WALIYA GETTING MARRIED AND MOVING AWAY?

My two daughters are already married and settled abroad and visit me for a month once a year and my younger daughter is nikkah fied now and is soon to get married but she would be living in the same city. So it is going to be a new experience for me and I am definitely gonna miss her even I have been told that by many people to make it clear to Waliya and my son in law that they should have a breakfast or dinner once a week with me after marriage.

 

But how she responds to this advice is very thoughtful and appreciated

She says that

“I donot want to bound my kids at all i want them to come whenever they like, and then we can spend quality time together, going to picnic or for outing etc but when the couple is busy it’s totally alright as nowadays both the couples work and they all have a very busy and hectic routine.”

She quote her thoughts by talking about an American show GILMORE GIRLS which she and her younger daughter Waliya use to watch together and it was their favorite. In that show the mother has fixed a time when her daughter and son in law must visit her and have food with her and how much annoying it was for the couple.

So she says with a laughter that she does not want something like this

Moreover, whenever the couple gets married they plan to live their life accordingly so she wouldnot like to restrict them.

What kind of mother you are?

I am not a very strict mother and I step back a little but stay observant regarding my kids but it’s revered in my case instead of me taking care of my daughters. They are the ones who look after me.

HOW IT FEELS TO BE KNOWN AS WALIYA’S MOTHER?

“I feels extremely proud and happy as I have seen Waliya struggling step by step to achieve this success she has today and at the same time we try to act grounded”

Moreover she says that fame and fortune is coming and going and we should never rely on it and we should always stay grounded and satisfied  rather than being dependent on these worldly things and later on realizing that we has nothing left in life.

She is a strong believer that we should have a strength of our own personality an character as it’s the most important thing               

What message you would like to give to all mothers?

She gave a message for all mothers saying that mother is very strong biologically and physically and she can do anything for her kids. Maintaining mother hood is conscious effort in today’s time. I have even written a blog over it titled “Are your children becoming orphans?”

 As even orphans get food and shelter and communication but the difference that is created between and orphan and a kid with parents is attention so give your children attention and talk to them with eye contact instead of looking at screens as relationships are not formed like this and anything that comes between this relationship should be controlled by mothers.

She shares a very nice example of a lady she met while travelling from Toronto to Islamabad

I admired that girl so much as she was with 2 years old baby and she has the kid’s bag with his favorite toys and activities and that kid did not even bother once in 15 hours of flight.

She had a fixed time for everything like kid’s sleep, meal which she bought from home, his reading time etc so basically the mother was giving her kid the time he desrved.

As mother has that ability to predict what her kid wants.
