Nikah Look Guide for 2021
So, your nikah date is fixed and you are clueless about what to wear, especially if your nikah is going to be an intimate home-based event. You might be tempted to either go for a gaudy heavily embellished jora you had in mind, or your mom insists on fixing the heirloom piece that’s close to her heart, or you just want to pick up something simpler…
I get you, the confusion is genuine
These Covid times have forced us to make choices and prioritize. However, one rule is a must:
Just be yourself!
Here’s my take on the colors and looks that will make you a mesmerizing nikah bride. First and foremost, the nikah look is quintessentially traditional, which I mentioned in the previous blog as well. Let’s keep the modern cuts and styles for the Walima. Choosing a traditional attire doesn’t always mean a farshigharara, rather, a trendy sharara, an elegant anarkali or angrakha, and even classic shalwarkameez can make the traditional impact while bringing out your unique personality.
Off-whites/whites:

The elegant and classic whites/off-whites are the most favored nikahcolor. You absolutely cannot go wrong with that. Jazz up the look with mix and match of traditional jewelry sets, maybe with contrasting color stones. You could add hints of pastel shades, as a tie and dye dupatta for example. It’s best to keep the dupatta lightly embellished so that it can be worn comfortably.
Pastels:

Shades of peach are my second recommendation. Pastel peach and pink shades with delicate embellishments add a fresh and modern touch to the traditionally embroidered outfit. I would also add this season’s trendiest color - powder blue to my list.
Likewise, if you do happen to have any heirloom piece, particularly in pink or blue, then give it a second chance. Spruce it up with a new sharara or a shirt, statement jewelry and the trending no-make up look.
You’ll surely have everyone admiring the look!
Golds:

Shimmery golds can also be adorned by the bling-lovers while keeping the base a nude shade. Deck it up with a matha-patti and stylish nose-ring, and you will get the maharani look. With plenty of shimmer to make the impact, it’s safe to keep the makeup neutral and natural.
Reds:

Yes, why not? But, be very careful not to go overboard. Elegant gold hand embroidery is enough to bring out the regality of the reds; no need for strikingly contrasting colors.
Last but not the least, whatever color you wear, flower gajras are a must. Brides absolutely don’t need to put heaps of makeup to look gorgeous or drown themselves in heavy attires. Feeling comfortable and looking like your own self IS pretty unique!
So, as a nikah bride, which color would you choose?
